Books and Burlesque: An Evening of Lore & Allure
at the 8th Annual Queerly Festival

"Books and Burlesque" presents a literary evening of lore and allure by
bringing together four diverse award-winning authors who will read
excerpts from their books with four exciting burlesque artists who will
"interpret" their books through the art of burlesque. Produced and hosted
by Fortune Cookie and Rosie Tulips, their first show for the eighth annual
New York City Queerly Festival features burlesque performers Twinky Boots
and Queensinera as well as a supporting cast of gogo dancers and other
special guests. Books that celebrate pride and the LGBT and queer
experience are the theme and showcase fiction writers K-Ming Chang, author
of the forthcoming short story collection "Gods of Want," and Jen
Silverman, author of the novel, "We Play Ourselves" as well as nonfiction
writer Greg Mania, author of the memoir "Born to be Public" and historian
Hugh Ryan author of "The Women's House of Detention: A Queer History of a
Forgetten Prison" in Greenwich Village.
Books from all four
authors will be available for sale during the show and there will also be
a time for Q&A among the writers and burlesque performers as well as with
the audience.
Streaming option available.
