The Can Opener: A Brief Horror Musical Presented by MZJ Music – Hoboken, NJ Written by M. Zachary Johnson, Directed by Kenneth Oefelein In this Dr. Seuss-styled farce, young Bobbi is tormented by zombies in her nightmares—and horrified to learn from the headlines that her visions are coming true! Under pressure from her parents she agrees to attend college, where she finds out how these nightmares started—and how they will end.

Sharon Lam trained at the Kuala Lampur Performing Arts Center and at Michael Howard Studios in New York. She has appeared in theater and film, including the role of Princess Kokachin in Marco Polo at the Box of Delights Family Theater. She premiered the lead role of Bobbi in The Can Opener in 2014.



Rose Marie Rupley is a graduate of Circle in the Square Professional Musical Theater Workshop and Collin College. She has performed numerous roles at the Collin Theater Center, the Circle in the Square PMW, as well as in film. She premiered the role of Mother in The Can Opener in 2014.



Kevin L. Tucker has performed with the Martina Arroyo:Prelude to a Performance Program, Americolor Opera Alliance, American Opera Projects, Herndon Home Jazz Series, True Colors Theatre Company, and the Moses Hogan Music Festival. Kevin joins The Can Opener in the role of Father for the expanded version of the show at the Frigid New York Festival.



Meghan Pulles Cavanaugh, a graduate of Florida State University, is a skilled actress/singer/classical singer with extensive experience in theatre and opera. She also plays the guitar, and ukulele, and writes her own original songs. Meghan played a zombie college student in the premiere of The Can Opener 2014.

 

Andrew Blair is a graduate of Circle in the Square Theater Professional Workshop, and the DeKalb School of the Arts. He played King Louis XI in Bastard's Blood at the Sybillines Theater Co. He played a zombie college student in the premiere of The Can Opener in 2014.

 

Kenneth Oefelein, Director, trained and then worked as an art director at the Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood. He has written, directed and produced several short films including "Skeleton Canyon." He directed the premiere of The Can Opener at the Players Theater Boo Festival in 2014.

 

M. Zachary Johnson, creator of The Can Opener: A Brief Horror Musical, has written many instrumental works for saxophone, piano, violin, and symphonic band. His first theater work, The Boston Tea Party Opera, premiered at the 2014 NY International Fringe Festival to great acclaim. He teaches at Mannes College the New School for Music, and is the author of the book Dancing with the Muses: A Historical Approach to Basic Concepts of Music.
