Martin Dockery is a frequent performer in New York's storytelling scene. He's created six monologues and three plays, touring them across North America, Australia, and the UK for seven months each year. He's won multiple awards and received glowing reviews in New York City, San Francisco, Orlando, London, Toronto, Winnipeg, Fresno, Charleston, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Calgary, Victoria, Vancouver, Bellingham, Seattle, Portland, Calgary,Ottawa, Boulder, Edinburgh, Adelaide, The Melbourne Comedy Festival. He's also headlined The London Storytelling Festival. He's created and currently performs four autobiographical shows, and two fictional ones. Wanderlust, directed by Jean-Michele Gregory, tells the story of a 5-month trek through Africa to Timbuktu, in search of an Epiphany. The Surprise, also directed by Jean-Michele Gregory, is about familial secrets unveiled during a trip to Vietnam. In The Bike Trip, he re-creates the world's first LSD experience, while in The Holy Land Experience he tells the tale of an inept pilgrimage to Bethlehem on Christmas Day. Bursting Into Flames, his first fictional monologue, describes a terrifying and hilarious romp through the afterlife, while The Dark Fantastic is an immersive, surreal storytelling experience about a car crash in the desert. As part of his theater group Concrete Drops, Dockery has written and toured with three two-person plays all across North America. Oh, That Wily Snake! is an allegorical tale about betrayal. The Pit is the story of a couple wrestling with a bottomless pit in their bedroom. And his latest, Moonlight After Midnight, tells the story of a beautiful woman and a mysterious man in a hotel bedroom.


Dockery has also traveled with The Liar Show to Edinburgh (2008 & 2012) and New Orleans, as well as frequently performing with the show in his hometown of New York. He is a seven-time finalist in The Moth's Grandslam Storytelling Championship. Also, he was a co-creator of the play C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E, which ran on Broadway as The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. His play Oh, That Wily Snake! is part of a McGraw-Hill anthology textbook on literature, and The New York Times wrote that it "flashes with humor and insight." He received his B.A. in English from Kenyon College and his M.F.A. in playwriting from Columbia University.
