Work with Us

Interested in becoming a penguin? FRIGID New York is hiring!

Join our supportive and diverse team and help support our mission of providing both emerging and established artists the opportunity to create and produce original work without limit to content, form, or style, and to amplify their diverse voices. Founded in 1998, the aim was and is to form a structure, allowing multiple artists to focus on creating and staging new work and providing affordable rental space to scores of Independent artists. We operate in the Kraine and Under St Marks Theaters in the east village and consider ourselves a proud part of the arts community here. Now in our third decade we have produced a massive quantity of stimulating downtown theater.

First year working at FRIGID pays minimum wage and it is not expected to be your only commitment, but we do expect you to take it seriously. Working for FRIGID is working for Artists, and these Artists can use all the help you can give them. We will pay you to help them. These are hourly positions with flexible schedules. We are happy to cross-train all employees who have an interest in other aspects of theater management.  FRIGID New York is an equal opportunity employer. Candidates who identify as BIPOC, queer, trans, non-binary, candidates with disabilities, or candidates who are parents or immigrants are encouraged to apply.

We take the health and safety of our community very seriously and have been cautious in our Covid policies. We require proof of vaccination required for all staff, audience members, and artists (two weeks past final dose of any FDA-approved vaccine). Masks are currently required for all staff, audience members, and off-stage performers. Both of our performance spaces are newly heavily ventilated and we are seating at limited capacity. Most of our performances are also being streamed to a remote audience, so anyone who is unable to attend in person can watch from home. All staff, audience members, and artists MUST stay home if they are feeling at all unwell. There will be redundancies in staffing so that all involved can comfortably stay home if needed. For the most up-to-date policies, click here.
