Every Fall we select a small number of shows, particularly suited to national touring, from among the wonderful and creative work that crosses our path over the course of the previous seasons. We are particularly proud of our bicoastal lineup this season. We are looking forward to introducing these ten shows to theaters across the country in the coming years.
Black and Blue
Black and Blue is a solo show about a Black boy living in a society that doesn’t like it when our Black men show vulnerability, and this sensitive boy learns to bottle up his feelings and internalize his trauma. Over time, his hot pink shirts turn to faded black and his playlist turns from 90s boy bands to the gangsta rap of the early 2000’s. But at the end of this dark tunnel is a light that will lead us back to the path of joy, liberation, and freedom. Like the Backstreet Boys album, our biracial boy realizes it’s ok to be Black and feel Blue.
DI LADY DI
DI LADY DI is a one woman, coming-of-age, powerhouse, new fairytale musical created and performed by Charlotte Munson.
The Elephant in the Room
“One-Woman Wonder” Priyanka Shetty’s THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM is a witty, dark comedy about just your typical Indian metalhead software-engineer-turned-actor who must navigate life as an immigrant in Trump’s America. When Priyanka makes the bold move to defy her family by quitting her IT job and moving to the U.S. to pursue an acting career, things don’t quite turn out how she imagined. Gear up for a funny, tumultuous ride through immiscible cultures, unforgettable love, irreparable loss, and the desperation of not belonging anywhere.
The Fire This Time
The African American experience is not represented solely by one voice or one style. Frigid NYC and the Fire This Time festival provide opportunities for talented early career playwrights of African and African American descent to write and produce material that reflects diverse perspectives as 21st century theater artists and showcase this work to diverse audiences.
In Their Footsteps
IVP interviewed five American women who served in the Vietnam War, two military officers, three civilian employees, all volunteers. Hearing their poignant, horrific, funny and endearing memories, IVP set out to tell the often unknown, but extremely timely story of the human side of war.

The audience eavesdrops on La Divina’s interview with a nonexistant Mr. Wallace and are taken on a journey through trauma, allowed glimpses of an extremely complex and tormented woman, and treated to some operatic gems.

Telenovela 101 is a satirical comedy trilogy that makes fun of the beloved Mexican telenovelas in the form of a college class.
Performed completely in Spanish with English subtitles, this parody will take you on a journey as a media professor tries to make sense of what she sees “on screen” (the stage) and analyzes the telenovela’s lack of substance, subtlety, and sense.
The show premiered in 2019 at the Estrogenius festival and has since then been a favorite for both Spanish and English speaking audiences!
